Leave of Absence: Bereavement Leave

As a full-time regular employee, you are eligible to take up to ten (10) days paid bereavement leave to attend the funeral and/or take care of personal matters related to the death of a member of your immediate family. You will need to notify your immediate supervisor of your need for bereavement leave as soon as possible. Your time off will begin with the first day you are away from work and must commence within one week of your immediate family member’s death.

ACE defines your immediate family as your spouse, parent, in-laws, child, stepchildren, grandparent, grandchild, or sibling; your spouse’s parent, child; or your child’s spouse or any relative living with you in the same household.

You are eligible to take up to five (5) days paid bereavement leave for non-immediate or extended family members.  ACE defines these family members as cousins, aunts, uncles, etc.  The decision whether to grant bereavement leave is at ACE’s sole discretion. ACE may require documentation in order to grant bereavement leave.
