ACE has a strong commitment to provide employees with a drug-free, healthy, and safe workplace. To enable us to accomplish this, we have established the requirements listed below regarding the use, possession, sale, distribution, or manufacture of drugs, or being under the influence of illegal drugs, controlled substances and alcohol.
The following are strictly prohibited:
- The use, possession, solicitation for, or sale of narcotics or other illegal drugs, or prescription medication without a prescription while on ACE, vendor, or partner premises or while performing an assignment.
- Being impaired or under the influence of legal or illegal drugs or alcohol away from ACE, on vendor or partner premises; if such impairment or influence adversely affects the employee’s work performance, the safety of the employee or of others, or puts at risk ACE’s reputation.
- Possession, use, solicitation for, or sale of legal or illegal drugs or alcohol away from ACE, on vendor or partner premises; if such activity or involvement adversely affects the employee’s work performance, the safety of the employee or of others, or puts at risk ACE’s reputation.
- The presence of any detectable amount of prohibited substances in the employee’s system while at work, while on ACE, vendor, or partner premises, or while on company business of any kind. “Prohibited substances” include illegal drugs, or prescription drugs not taken in accordance with a prescription given to the employee.
All employees are required to notify HR in the event he or she enters a plea of guilty, a plea of no contest, or a conviction is imposed, with reference to a violation of any federal or state criminal drug statute or an alleged related driving offense within three (3) business days of the incident. This also applies to alcohol related charges if driving is part of your regular responsibilities for ACE. Failure of an employee to provide notice required hereunder will result in corrective action up to and including termination.
There may be ACE-sponsored events where management approves the serving of alcoholic beverages. Employees may choose to participate in the consumption of alcoholic beverages at these events but are in no way obligated to do so. In these cases, all appropriate liquor laws must be followed, including laws regarding the serving of alcohol to those under the legal drinking age. Consistent with our policy, intoxication and excessive drinking at these events is prohibited.
