Standards of Conduct

As we focus our efforts on making ACE a successful organization, it is very important for every employee to understand how their individual performance supports and adds value to our initiative. We expect every employee to read and comply with the guidelines and policies outlined in this handbook. These guidelines define the minimum level of expected performance or behavior employees should meet. These guidelines apply at all times, whether you are interacting with fellow employees, students or prospective students, or with the public.

Naturally, it is not possible to list all the forms of behavior considered to be unacceptable in the workplace.
However, the following are examples of behaviors that may result in corrective action up to and including immediate termination of employment.

  • Failing to observe safety rules or safety practices.
  • Behaving negligently or carelessly in such a way that it endangers the life or safety of you or another person.
  • Behaving in a way that is insubordinate, disrespectful, or rude, including, but not limited to, using obscene, vulgar, or abusive language, exhibiting indifference or rudeness towards a student or ACE employee, engaging in an act of sabotage, or behaving in a manner that potentially reflects poorly on ACE.
  • Negligently or willfully causing the destruction or damage of our property or the property of fellow employees, customers, suppliers, or visitors.
  • Removing or possessing property that does not belong to you, either from ACE or an ACE partner’s premises.
  • Falsifying ACE records or other ACE documents. This includes recording the work time of another employee or allowing another employee to record your work time.
  • Violation of ACE policies.
  • Incurring inappropriate and/or non-essential travel expenses.
  • Embezzlement or defrauding ACE.
  • Failing to pay expenses incurred on business credit cards.
  • Accepting employment or any type of compensation or benefits that could reasonably be expected to impair your judgment in the performance of official duties for ACE.
  • Performing your job unsatisfactorily or carelessly, or failing to meet production or quality standards.
  • Carelessly using technology and not safegarding your password or computer.
  • Disclosing or sharing your network password.
  • Using work time for excessive personal communication or personal business, including homework.
  • Leaving work early or not arriving to work on time without management approval.
  • Incurring excessive unexcused absences and/or tardiness.
  • Violating confidentiality obligations.

Your behavior at work can influence the conduct of co-workers and our work environment. We urge you to report any suspected misconduct to your supervisor. When in doubt, contact HR.

Employees who report suspected misconduct will not suffer retaliation. Although we treat all reports confidentially to the fullest extent possible, the investigation of any concerns you report may require disclosure to the accused party and to other witnesses in order to gather pertinent facts.
