ACE Employee Handbook 2019 [ARCHIVED CATALOG]

Paid Time Off - Staff

Part-time and temporary employees are not eligible for PTO. Full-time employees (regularly working 30 hours or more per week) will be  eligible to take PTO after completing three (3) months or ninety (90) days of employment. PTO hours are accrued during the 90-day introductory period, but are not available for use until day 91 of employment, with your manager’s approval. Your manager needs to approve your request for PTO, which can be taken in minimum increments of one hour.

PTO time is accrued on a quarterly basis according to the schedule below and is available to you in the first pay of each quarter (January, April, July, October). Because our PTO balances reset each calendar year, you are able to use up to 40 hours of un-accrued time thus having a negative balance. This must be approved by your manager and earned back before December 31. Negative balances cannot be carried into the following year, your PTO balance must be positive or 0 at year end. Overdrawn balances will be deducted from the last paycheck of the year at the rate of your current pay. Carryover of PTO is not allowed.

Your PTO will run concurrent with FMLA and all other approved Leaves of Absence. Available PTO time must be used during your leave of absence. With the exception of short-term disability, you cannot take time off without pay if you have a positive PTO balance.

If you leave ACE, you will be paid accrued, unused PTO. You cannot substitute PTO for notice. In the event an employee is terminated and has taken more PTO days than have been accrued, the amount will be deducted from your final pay check at the rate of your current pay. You can check your PTO balance at any time by logging into the ACE’s time and attendance system. If employment ends during the 90-day introductory period, accrued, unused PTO will not be paid to the employee.

American College of Education will abide by all employment laws applicable on the state and local levels.
