Attendance and Punctuality

ACE’s standard business hours are 8:30am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday, although some employees’ hours will vary from the standard hours. Your work hours will be scheduled by your supervisor. All employees are expected to be at work and ready to begin working on time every day.

Breaks and lunch time for an employee’s standard eight-hour work day include one unpaid hour for lunch, and two paid 15-minute breaks. Breaks include 15 minutes during the first half of your shift, and 15 minutes midway through the last half of your shift. If you work less than 4 hours or ½ the workday, you do not get break time. With a minimum of 4 hours worked, you are allowed one 15-minute break which cannot be taken at the end of your shift and does not allow you to leave work early.

An absence is defined as an unscheduled time off regardless of the reason. A tardy is defined as arriving to work after the scheduled start time or leaving work before the scheduled end time.

Absenteeism and tardiness place a burden on your co-workers and adversely affect productivity. If you cannot avoid being late or are unable to come to work, you must notify your supervisor or the supervisor’s designee as soon as possible, or by your scheduled starting time. You must contact your supervisor for each day you will be absent or tardy. Leaving a message or contacting someone other than your immediate supervisor or your supervisor’s designee is not sufficient.

Failure to properly notify a supervisor or other designated employee of an absence or if you are going to be late may be cause for corrective action up to and including termination.

A doctor’s release is required for any absence of three or more consecutive days.

If you are absent from work and fail to notify your supervisor for three (3) consecutive workdays, you will be considered to have abandoned your job and will be considered to have voluntarily resigned.
