Faculty Onboarding Meeting Attendance


 

New Faculty Onboarding Process

Shortly after a position has been accepted, the new ACE faculty member will be contacted to start the onboarding process. The onboarding process consists of the following: faculty profile and paperwork completion, Canvas training, best practices and faculty expectations training, FERPA and CITI training, harassment training, and accreditation and assessment training. Once completed faculty members will be cleared to teach at ACE. In addition, you will be given the opportunity to shadow a course either while teaching your first course or prior to teaching your first course at ACE. The graphic below depicts the on-boarding process for new faculty at ACE.

 

New Faculty Onboarding Expectations

To ensure that all new ACE faculty members are prepared for their first course at ACE, ACE requires all onboarding activities to be completed prior to course assignment. New faculty members will work with the ACE training department and will be “cleared” to teach once all required activities have been completed. If for some reason a new ACE faculty member cannot complete the training by the required deadline, they will not be able to teach at ACE and their position will be terminated. If there are any extenuating circumstances that would prevent a new ACE faculty member from completing their onboarding by the deadlines, the faculty member should let their hiring manager and the training department know. 

Faculty Meeting Attendance

This policy established the expectations for faculty attendance at meetings to ensure all faculty stay current on college policies and procedures.

All full-time and part-time faculty are required to attend the faculty meetings either synchronously or asynchronously.

Departments will determine the frequency and format of faculty meetings.  Faculty will receive email communication regarding expectations for attending mandatory meetings. 

The college will provide both synchronous and asynchronous options for meeting the attendance requirements.  These options will include logging in to the virtual meeting live, viewing a recording of the meeting and providing acknowledgement to the department within 5 business days, or other asynchronous options provided by the department leadership.

As we continue to grow and support more students, it is increasingly important for all faculty members to remain engaged and abreast on department and college policies and procedures. Our student success is dependent on each one of us; therefore, attendance will be recorded for both synchronous and asynchronous options.  Failure to attend faculty meetings may be considered in future employment decisions and may affect annual evaluations, merits, promotions, hiring for full-time positions, and course assignments.
