Program Description
The M.Ed. in Mathematics Education program is designed for those teaching at the secondary or college level in the field of mathematics. This set of coursework uses a discovery model in mathematics to help instructors identify problems in their curricula and adapt these by adding or subtracting information, critiquing scenarios, providing overarching data, and allowing students to create predictive models to test against the gathered data to determine accuracy. Designed to support integrative ideas, from algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics, and calculus, events and influential mathematicians bring the human factor into the discovery of fundamental constructs which influence a broader understanding of underlying concepts. The courses are crafted to enhance teaching strategies while modeling intellectual processes essential for solving real-world problems.
Program Outcomes
- Assess contributions in the field of mathematics by applying cognitive and psychological foundations to improve personal and corporate productivity. (AO1)
- Analyze theories and principles of mathematics to develop methods for research and enhance the documentation and organization of critical elements within a discipline. (AO1)
- Demonstrate knowledge of industry standards and collaborative strategies by incorporating multiple resources and technological solutions to ensure the application of viewpoints and ethical reasoning. (AO4)
- Analyze how experts consider evidence to generate new options and foster a climate of mutual respect and support. (AO2)
- Identify critical issues in the field of mathematics and explain their impact on communities, regions, and global concerns. (AO3)
