Program Description

The Bachelor of Arts in Education Studies is a transfer-friendly degree completion program focused on education. The program is designed for individuals who wish to work in the P-12 setting and is non-licensure. Graduates may seek licensure through an alternative pathway program of their choice upon completion. 

Program Outcomes

  1. Utilize educational trends and historical foundations to problem solve in real-world educational settings. (AO5)
  2. Utilize theories of child and adolescent development to select suitable literature and strategies for managing learning environments, ensuring they are tailored to meet the needs of specific age groups and foster a safe, supportive educational setting. (AO1)
  3. Examine trends and best practices to support a variety of learners and individual needs. (AO3)
  4. Research strategies and methods used in modern educational settings to guide curriculum, instruction and use of technology. (AO4)
  5. Explore professional, legal, and ethical requirements that guide collaborative interactions with students, families/caregivers, and other professionals while supporting the needs of learners. (AO2)

Mission Statement

The mission of the Bachelor of Arts in Education Studies program is to provide students with the opportunity to complete a bachelor’s degree utilizing previously earned credits and coursework focused on education. 

Note


Students are required to complete ninety (90) semester credits in addition to the credits listed in ACE course list for satisfactory completion of the program. Inclusive of the ninety (90) semester credits, a required thirty (30) semester credits of general education must align with the Indiana College Core as defined in the College’s General Education Requirements policy. These credits can be acquired prior to program enrollment or while enrolled in the program.
