Program Description

The Education Specialist in Public Health Education is designed to prepare healthcare professionals and educators with the competencies necessary to address the public health issues of local, national, and international communities from a health education perspective without the completion of a dissertation. The dynamic connection between research, theory, and practice prepares graduates to be leaders and experts in public health education through research intensive coursework.

Program Outcomes

  1. Create innovative programs using relevant technology and data that address public health across communities. (AO4)
  2. Contribute to innovative solutions for complex public health concerns with actions based on theory, standards, and frameworks. (AO1)
  3. Develop policies and programs promoting positive social change in the health of individuals and communities using evidence-based research. (AO3)
  4. Collaborate with stakeholders within communities to advocate, educate, and improve the health of individuals and communities. (AO2)
  5. Demonstrate best practices in leadership and serve as an expert resource in public health education. (AO5)
  6. Demonstrate evidence-based decision-making, integrating principles of cultural competence, leadership, and ethics to address public health concerns and education in local, national, and global communities. (AO3)
  7. Demonstrate growth as a professional and leader in public health education by applying evidence-based strategies, promoting community health initiatives, and fostering innovative approaches to health education and policy. (AO5)
  8. Apply, analyze, and promote best practices in leadership. (AO5)
  9. Demonstrate competence in the application of multiple research methods. (AO1)

Mission Statement

The mission of the Ed.S. in Public Health Education program is to provide a research intensive, evidence based public health education curriculum to give students the necessary analytical, problem solving, theoretical, and leadership tools to bring about positive health change in evolving communities.
