Program Description

The STEM Education program is designed to empower educators with the knowledge, skills, and strategies to transform STEM teaching and learning. Through a comprehensive curriculum, participants will develop expertise in applying STEM frameworks and competencies to investigate real-world problems. They will create engaging and relevant learning environments and leverage technology to facilitate collaboration and communication. Participants will apply strategies to foster deep content knowledge and critical thinking through inquiry-based learning. 

Program Disclaimer Information 

As part of your coursework, you have the option to complete the National Certificate for STEM Teaching (NCST) with the National Institute of STEM Education (NISE). The NCST transfers into ACE as two courses, SCI5243** and SCI5263**, for degree completion. 

Important Note: NISE only offers the NCST to individuals located inside the U.S, Canada, Mexico, and the United Kingdom. Therefore, those located in all other countries are ineligible to complete the National Certificate for STEM Teaching (NCST) with the National Institute of STEM Education (NISE).

  3. Identify methods for making STEM learning environments engaging and relevant for groups of learners. (AO3)
  4. Leverage technology to facilitate collaboration and communication among students and teachers in STEM education. (AO4)
  5. Foster a growth mindset and continuously improve STEM knowledge and skills. (AO5)

Mission Statement

The M.Ed. in STEM Education program prepares committed and involved K-16 teachers to develop innovative learning environments for students. Through systematic problem solving and evidence-based strategies, students become leaders in a technical world.

 

*For students who choose to complete the National Certificate for STEM Teaching (NCST) with the National Institute of STEM Education (NISE) the total cost of coursework including fees at ACE is $7025. Total cost of the program, including ACE course work and fees and the courses taken with NISE, is $7,650.00. Call 800.531.0864 with any questions. Students will have the option to take two courses (6 credits) of this program through the National Institute for STEM Education (NISE) and will transfer into ACE for degree completion. 

**Verification of completed National Institute for STEM Education (NISE)/Accelerate Learning (ALI) coursework will be required prior to completion of your final term/course taken at ACE. 

ACE Route


Students who choose this route will take all their courses at ACE.  The ACE route is available to all students; however, it is the only option for students whose internet access originates outside the U.S. Mexico, Canada, or the United Kingdom. 

NISE Route


Students who choose this route will complete certification through the National Institute for STEM (NISE) which will result in transfer credit for the two courses below.

  • *NISE completion requires internet access from within the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the United Kingdom (see https://nise.institute/ for more information). 
  • This program is neither designed nor approved (as of the publication date of this Catalog) to prepare students for licensure, certification, or endorsement in any state.
