Healthcare Administration, Master’s

Program Description

The Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) prepares students for advanced leadership roles within organizations in the healthcare field. This program will combine coursework in topics such as communication, technology, leadership, management, critical thinking, and professionalism. The curriculum includes a planned supervised practicum to facilitate application of theoretical concepts, provide real world experience and build on students’ professional experiences in the healthcare industry. Through application-based coursework and the supervised practicum, students will learn how to apply program competencies to their careers within healthcare organizations.

Program Outcomes

  1. Apply advanced leadership and management skills to strategic planning, organizational development, operations, and outcomes within healthcare organizations.
  2. Communicate across the spectrum of healthcare organizations, engaging fluently with different departments, stakeholders, and diverse personnel. 
  3. Utilize personal and professional ethics in decision making within healthcare organizations.
  4. Apply principles of healthcare economics and financial analysis in strategically assessing and developing programs and operations within healthcare organizations.
  5. Apply human resources best practices in leading and managing personnel and health professionals in healthcare organizations.
  6. Evaluate evidenced based healthcare research, and apply results to improve decision making, operations, and outcomes within healthcare organizations.
  7. Implement epidemiology and public health principles to health and wellness issues within populations.
  8. Utilize information systems, data management and data analytics to improve operations and outcomes within healthcare organizations.
  9. Apply marketing principles to communicate healthcare organizational value to stakeholders, leaders, and individuals within the community.
  10. Promote cultural competency and diversity within healthcare organizations.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Master of Healthcare Administration program is to provide students an affordable, application-based program with the necessary executive level healthcare administration competencies to promote career enhancement in leadership and management roles within healthcare organizations.

Lean Healthcare Badge


*Successful completion of Lean Healthcare modules and completion of a practicum meeting Lean Healthcare project requirements will qualify for an ACE Lean Healthcare Badge.

Research Course (3 Semester Credits)


Capstone Experience Course (3 Semester Credits)


  • A 120-hour capstone/practicum experience is embedded in the program and required for program completion.  To avoid disruption in course sequence the following must be completed before enrollment in subsequent term(s) or enrollment in the capstone/practicum course can occur:

    1. Students must secure an acceptable site by the end of the HLTH5623 course; and
    2. Any required documents which may include, but are not limited to liability insurance, background check, drug screening, immunizations, proof of health insurance, evidence of HIPAA training, and current CPR certification must be submitted no later than 30 days prior to beginning the capstone/practicum course experience.
