Program Description

The Master of Public Health (MPH) prepares public health professionals, leaders, and managers in health organizations to develop, implement, and evaluate public health programs and services. This program is designed for leaders and professionals with a public health background. Leadership and management competencies as well as epidemiology, biostatistics, disaster readiness and response, public health assessment, ethics, health economics, budgeting, health disparities, and diversity will be emphasized in the curriculum. The program has a built-in practicum component where students can gain real world experience and apply the program competencies in a supervised professional setting.

HLTH5083 - Capstone in Public Health
A 120-hour capstone/practicum experience is embedded in the program and required for program completion. To avoid disruption in course sequence the following must be completed before enrollment in subsequent term(s) or enrollment in the capstone/practicum course can occur:
1. Students must secure an acceptable site by the end of the HLTH5053 Public Health Literacy and Communication; and
2. Any required documents which may include, but are not limited to liability insurance, background check, drug screening, immunizations, proof of health insurance, evidence of HIPAA training, and current CPR certification must be submitted no later than 30 days prior to beginning the capstone/practicum course experience.

This program is neither designed nor approved (as of the publication date of this Catalog) to prepare students for licensure or certification in any state.
Individuals who have a relevant graduate-level degree, and at least three years’ public health work experience may be eligible to sit for the Certified in Public Health (CPH) examination. Check eligibility requirements here.
