Certificate Description

The Certificate in Public & Nonprofit Leadership is a program that focuses on applying the process of leading ethically, in a spirit of social justice, using effective communication, and actively leading public and nonprofit organizations. Designed for those who are seeking to possess or enhance leadership skills utilized in managing public and nonprofit organizations. The program blends concepts of grant writing to recognizing stakeholders’ roles, volunteer oversight, and organizing nonprofit boards. Students are presented with opportunities to focus on the implementation of policy, advocacy and lobbying strategies, influencing political and policymaking processes, and applying corporate social responsibility framework. 

Certificate Outcomes

  1. Apply and promote a vision for community and change through social initiatives.
  2. Demonstrate evidence-based decision-making strategies to create solutions for public and nonprofit leadership challenges and develop opportunities.
  3. Employ socially responsible and impactful leadership principles to lead stakeholders in a social enterprise.
  4. Apply collaborative practices in diverse corporate and nonprofit communities and environments to build meaningful partnerships.
  5. Practice and advocate for awareness of public and nonprofit regulations, ethical standards, and social influence.
