Enrollment

Enrollment and Registration

Once admitted, students are registered for courses in their degree or certificate program. Students must meet their obligation to pay tuition by the payment deadline in order to maintain access to their courses.

Concurrent College Enrollment

ACE offers a Concurrent College Enrollment option, allowing students to be admitted as degree-seeking undergraduates to ACE while also enrolling at another post-secondary institution with a formal Concurrent College Enrollment partnership agreement with ACE (“Partner Institution”). With this option:

Course Pathway: ACE and the Partner Institution will create a course pathway document as part of the Concurrent College Enrollment Partnership Agreement. This course pathway document will specify which courses students must complete at the Partner Institution, which courses they must take at ACE, and which courses are available to complete from either.

Transfer Credit: Academic credits earned at the Partner Institution will be transferred to ACE as defined in the Concurrent College Enrollment Partnership Agreement. All transfer credits must adhere to the policies outlined in the ACE academic catalog unless specified in the Concurrent College Enrollment Partnership Agreement.

Academic Standing: Maintaining good academic standing at ACE (as defined in the ACE academic catalog) and the Partner Institution is a requirement for continued enrollment and benefit eligibility (e.g., special tuition rate) specified in the Concurrent College Enrollment Partnership Agreement.

Student Status: A student in a Concurrent Enrollment Program will be considered an ACE degree-seeking student for their respective program rather than a student-at-large.

ACE Enrollment: Students must enroll in ACE courses as specified in their ACE enrollment agreement. If they plan not to take ACE courses in any term, they must submit a Leave of Absence (LOA) request to ACE. The number of LOA opportunities a student may take at ACE will be outlined in the Concurrent College Enrollment Partnership Agreement.

Financial Aid: ACE does not award Title IV funding (federal financial aid).  Students intending to utilize federal financial aid must work with the Partner Institution.

Tuition and Fees: Students are responsible for paying the tuition and associated fees for their enrollment at ACE. ACE provides loan alternatives and is approved for in-school deferment for existing loans.

Nursing Clinical Site: Students enrolled in the RN-to-MSN concurrent nursing program must acknowledge the requirement to have a clinical/practicum setting to complete the program.  ACE must approve the setting and preceptor before beginning any ACE clinical courses. Most clinical settings will require students to hold an unencumbered nursing license.

Nursing Licensure: Students enrolled in concurrent nursing programs (e.g., the RN program at Partner Institution and the RN to BSN program at ACE) are not required to provide an unencumbered RN license at enrollment at ACE, as they are not eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN examination until they complete their RN program. Before graduating with an ACE nursing degree, students must provide proof of an unencumbered RN license and meet all program requirements outlined in the ACE academic catalog. Licensure may be required to complete ACE clinical coursework. If a student cannot provide an unencumbered RN license, ACE will assist them in transferring to an ACE program that doesn’t require this credential. However, this may incur additional time, curriculum requirements, and tuition for the student.

Institutional Differences: Students are responsible for being aware of and adhering to the varying deadlines, term dates, policies, and procedures of both ACE and the Partner Institution. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure they meet all deadlines and comply with the policies and procedures of each institution.

Final Transcript Submission: Upon finishing the final term of concurrent enrollment at the Partner Institution, the student must submit their final, official transcript to ACE. This step is crucial to ensure that any credits eligible for transfer from the Partner Institution are accurately reflected in the student’s ACE academic record. Upon review of the final transcript, a detailed list of remaining courses to be completed at ACE will be determined.  A student may be required to complete additional courses (e.g., general education coursework) if those courses have not been completed at the Partner Institution. This would require additional time, curriculum requirements, and tuition for the student.

Students interested in the Concurrent College Enrollment option should discuss it with their admission representative when applying to ACE to ensure they receive the correct tuition rates and understand enrollment expectations. As part of the program, student responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Sign a FERPA release for the Partner Institution, allowing ACE to access their academic records.
  • Notify ACE of any withdrawals, leaves of absence, suspensions, or failures at the Partner Institution that may affect their coursework progress.
  • Regularly provide ACE with unofficial transcripts from the Partner Institution upon request.
  • Sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) outlining notification requirements with ACE.
  • Provide ACE with a final, official transcript from the Partner Institution upon completion of coursework.
