Library Resources

ACE Library

American College of Education is committed to providing the best university-level library resources and services for its students and faculty. As a fast-growing online college, ACE supports all academic programs with digital books, full-text journals, and online multi-media resources through its library. The transformative technologies of the present day are making scholarly and research information increasingly available in digital formats. This availability significantly improves ways that online students and faculty can identify, access, locate, and use information anytime and anywhere.

ACE subscribes to specialized fee-based databases that allow only ACE students and faculty access to full-text books and journal articles. From the library, students can access tens of thousands of academic resources with a simple login and password.

Our professional librarians are available via live chat, text, or email to assist students with library databases, to answer reference questions, and to provide interlibrary loan services for journal articles that are not found in the collection.

Students can access the ACE Library at the bottom of the main navigation bar in Canvas. In the ACE Library, you will find all the following (and more):

ACE Library Online Reference Services

The American College of Education professional librarians provide online reference services via chat, text, Zoom meetings, or email. In addition, they offer two webinars per term start for students. To reach the librarians, please visit the Library icon on the main left navigational menu in Canvas or on the library home page.

ACE ScholarWorks Dissertation Repository

ACE ScholarWorks is an open access institutional repository showcasing and preserving the research, scholarship, and publications of the American College of Education faculty, staff, and students. ACE ScholarWorks is a service provided by the ACE Library.

ACE ScholarWorks is included in OpenDOAR, which is the quality-assured, global Directory of Open Access Repositories.

Anyone on the Web can access the documents in ACE ScholarWorks.  Documents uploaded to ACE ScholarWorks have descriptive metadata attached, ensuring search engines such as Google Scholar will include them in their results.

Course E-Reserves

Readings for each course are accessible in the E-Reserves (located in the ACE Library Resources area of each course). The readings are divided by module. Please note that all listings are found within the E-Reserves link to the library; thus, individuals must be logged into the library to access all course readings in the E-Reserves.

Information Literacy

ACE follows the Association of College and Research Libraries’ (ACRL) Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education to ensure that all students can:

  • Determine the extent of information needed.
  • Access the needed information effectively and efficiently.
  • Evaluate information and its sources critically.
  • Incorporate selected information into one’s knowledge base.
  • Use information effectively to accomplish a specific purpose.
  • Understand the economic, legal, and social issues surrounding the use of information, and access and use information ethically and legally.

Please visit the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education for additional information.

Interlibrary Loan

If you cannot find the full text of an article or chapter of an E-Book you want in our databases, your ACE librarians will try to borrow it for you through interlibrary loan with other institution libraries. This service is governed by the American Library Association’s Interlibrary Loan Code and the US Copyright Revision Act of 1976 (17. United States Code. 101 et seq.) and its amendments.
